Join us at Hole In The Wall Bagels on Wednesday, January 21st from 5:00 - 6:00pm for an educational talk about recycling, hosted by EcoMaine!

Ever wonder what actually happens to your recycling after it leaves your recycling bin? Recycling 101 pulls back the curtain on the journey of recyclables—from collection to processing, sorting, and transformation into new products.

Hosted by ecomaine, this engaging info session breaks down the do’s and don’ts of recycling in a clear, practical way. Learn exactly what can and can’t go in the bin, why some items contaminate the stream, and how proper recycling helps conserve resources and reduce waste.

The session will conclude with an open Q&A, giving you the chance to ask all your recycling questions and get expert guidance on best practices for your waste.

Whether you’re a beginner or just want to recycle smarter, Recycling 101 will leave you informed, empowered, and confident in your recycling choices.

Date & Time: Wednesday, January 21st, 5:00 - 6:00 pm.

About ecomaine:

ecomaine provides comprehensive, long-term solid waste solutions in a safe, environmentally responsible, economically sound manner, and is a leader in raising public awareness of sustainable waste management strategies.

At ecomaine, we prioritize the solid waste hierarchy, which is guidance from the federal Environmental Protection Agency and enshrined in Maine state statute. We look to push waste up the hierarchy as far as possible: reduction of waste generated; reuse of resources; recycling and employing materials back into the marketplace; composting or digestion of organic waste; creating electricity via waste-to-energy; and landfilling as a last resort.
