Good Tern Board of Directors

MEET OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Thomas May -Treasurer

I am an independent builder (now retired) living in Lincolnville.  Member of the Co-op since 1990.  I believe the values and practices of the co-operative model the Good Tern represents are valuable and worth conserving.

Chelsea Avirett

I grew up eating a casserole-heavy diet and veggies from cans. Over time, I’ve become involved in the local food movement, shopping at co-ops, eating local and organic foods, joining CSAs, and thinking carefully about the environmental and economic impact of what we eat. I’m also concerned about how we increase access to healthy food and create jobs that pay a living wage. My husband and I have been members of the Good Tern since May of 2013 – we signed up the day after we moved to Rockland.

Emily Jeffries

Emily grew up in Alabama and moved north to attend Hampshire College. There she gained a love of co-ops by working at the student run food co-op –  Mixed Nuts – as a produce buyer. Since then, she’s been a farmer, a gardener, a day care teacher, a square dance organizer, a musician and a nanny. Emily loves the great people, the hard work and the spirit that makes the Good Tern co-op. She’s been a floater, a cashier, the wellness department buyer, a board member and the education and outreach person. She also loves to play old time fiddle, sew, play in the garden and fix things.

Bobby Schneider

I first became seriously interested in environmentalism and the
ethical treatment of animals when I started producing public
relations films for the European Commission’s Directorate General for
Environment. The purpose of these films was to communicate European
Union policy on the environment, and to raise awareness about issues
such as climate change, sustainability, and biodiversity. In 2012, I
moved to Rockland and began work on The Guru’s Touch, a coming of age
novel, set for publication in June of 2017.

Cheryl Parker

I recently rejoined the Good Tern after a number of years being a shopping non member. I have served on various other boards in the past, worked with a group of parents to start an after school care program for children; and volunteered for a number of years at Owls Head Transportation Museum in their car shop and during events.
I enjoy creating in the kitchen, sewing, knitting, growing things, exploring the outdoors, historic places; and learning new things.
