MEET OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Audrey McGlashan -Chair of Food Safety Committee
I began life as an artist and have been through various work incarnations.
I have a lifelong interest in natural healing and whole foods. I was part of the early days of WOOFING (Working Weekends on organic farms) I helped mother pigs give birth, herded sheep and harvested and milled wheat and made bread. Also was a member of Friends of the Earth (where we had a little buying club – which is the way many food co-ops began).
I trained as a gardener both mainstream and organic/bio-dynamic and worked in that field (ha,ha) for 7 years.
I have run my own catering business and worked as a whole food cook in a Waldorf School and at a home for handicapped people while moonlighting in the kitchens of a British pub. I was partner and part of the initiating team in a whole food cafe/ gift and bookstore.
I lived in an intentional community for 7 years and was on the board for several of those years.
Then began my Waldorf teaching experience which was my major career. I trained in early childhood education in England and worked there and here in Waldorf early childhood education. I was on the board or part of the leadership team in both the Waldorf Schools in which I worked.
I was born in the U.K and came to Maine 23 years ago, becoming a citizen in 2002.
I left teaching and went back to school at age 54 to study art (full circle). While studying part time I gardened and worked in at the Good Tern for about 5 years at the register. I now, with my husband, run a holiday rental business in Owl’s Head and when I can I paint!
Term Year 2
Reilly Harvey – Chair
I am a lifelong member of the Good Tern and also a former employee, having served twice as the deli manager. I am passionate about healthy food and lifestyle for myself and my family. I left working as the deli manager to have my daughter who is now almost two. I felt that board membership would be a great way to maintain my connection with the staff and members at the co-op and continue my service to the community.
Term Year 1
Thomas May -Treasurer
I am an independent builder (now retired) living in Lincolnville. Member of the Co-op since 1990. I believe the values and practices of the co-operative model the Good Tern represents are valuable and worth conserving.
Term Year 2
I live in Owls Head. I am a mom who free schools, a wellness consultant and a property manager. I have shopped at the Good Tern since its inception as a child with my mom down on South Main Street. I love the cooperative model and I love ORGANIC LOCAL FOOD. I joined the Board of Directors with the intention of offering my assistance in any way possible to assist in the growth and betterment of our store and our community.
Term Year 2
Grew up in Owls Head, Camden & Thomaston. Have lived and traveled all over the world, professionally trained chef and teacher of qi gong.
Since moving back to the area after having lived for nearly a decade in Portland, Oregon where I managed the famous Elephants Delicatessen, I’ve enjoyed getting to know the community and doing what I can to help with making it flourish in health, vitality & prosperity
